Flying Car Comes to Route 66 - for the next 100 years

THE NEXT CENTURY OF TRANSPORTATION TOUCHES DOWN ON ROUTE 66! As Route 66 celebrates its 100th anniversary, visitors to the Route 66 Road Fest presented by AAA witnessed a transportation milestone that could help define the next century. America's first consumer flying car, the all-electric BlackFly, touched down in Tulsa for demonstrations, cockpit tours, and meet-and-greets with the pioneering pilots of The Soar Tour - the nation’s first flying car tour. Attendees sat in the flying car, learnt how it flies using simple joystick controls, and heard firsthand stories from father-daughter aviation team John and Heather Chirtea—often called the "real-world Jetsons"—along with veteran smokejumper Tim Lum, the nation's most experienced eVTOL pilot. A century ago, Route 66 helped bring mobility and adventure to everyday Americans.
